Webmasterworld Breaking News

Name Servers Listed In Google. Server Or Google Bug?
A WebmasterWorld thread has one webmaster claiming Google has indexed and is listing their name server address instead of their web address in the Google search results. He said he noticed search referrals from NS2.domain.co.uk versus his own domain name. To me, that sounds like a server configuration issue not a Google issue. But who knows. As Tedster said in the thread, "many members here are ... (more...)

Ad Review Center Missing Google AdSense Ads To Review?
A WebmasterWorld thread has several reports from Google AdSense publishers that the Ad Review Center has some recent bugs disabling the ability to see new ads for review. Around May 8th, publishers believe Google introduced a bug preventing some new ads from being displayed in the review center. The first post about this wrote: Has anyone else seen a lack of new ads in the Ad Review Center the ... (more...)

Bing Search Update? Crawl Changes?
There is a single post at WebmasterWorld where a senior member is complaining that Bing has reduced the number of pages they have indexed of his site. He said he had about 500,000 URLs URLs indexed and now he only has about 350,000 URLs indexed at Bing. This occurred around May 5th. So I checked several of my sites at Bing Webmaster Tools and didn't notice a change in the index rate at all for ... (more...)

Some Free Directories Go Missing From Google, Some Paid Directories Doing Well
There some discussion going on in the webmaster/SEO community that Google may have de-indexed some free web directories. Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable points to a WebmasterWorld forum thread on the subject. The thread begins with a post from … (more...)

Google Update Brewing? What Is Going On?
As of yesterday, the WebmasterWorld thread and some other forums starting lighting up again with discussion and SEO chatter around Google's search results starting the shuffle and fluctuate. These are typically signs of an update happening in Google. Maybe a Panda or Penguin refresh? Maybe a new Google bug? Maybe a new penalty or an old one being run again? Maybe Google is testing an algorithm ... (more...)

Free Directory Sites Dropping Out Of Google?
A WebmasterWorld thread has one SEO noticing that Google has started to purge their index of the free directory submission web sites. He said that about 50% of the free directory submission web sites are no longer to be found in Google. I searched for a bunch and about 50% of my searches returned results and 50% did not. Here is one example: The big question to me is, is this new? Did Google ... (more...)

The Sad State Of SEO Consultants Today
There is an excellent thread at WebmasterWorld documenting the sad state of SEO companies, sales people and consultants today. Now, most of the SEOs reading this site know their stuff. They obviously take the time to stay on top of the industry and know that keyword meta tags play zero to no roll in rankings. But not all get into the SEO business for getting businesses more leads and sales, some ... (more...)

Did Google Drop 100+ Small Directories?
Yesterday I covered a WebmasterWorld thread where SEOs were complaining that Google has been removing tons of free web directories from their index. I conducted some random tests and did notice some of these free web directories not coming up in Google. (more...)

Here is one more crazy thing for the Penguin Igloo - a search hack that may show you if you were hit by the Penguin update ! Google Goes After Links In WordPress Themes
A WebmasterWorld thread has an SEO claiming he received a response from Google to a reconsideration request that the only way his site will be reincluded in Google is if he removes all or most of the links in those WordPress themes. He said, years ago, he partook in creating and sponsoring designs for WordPress themes. Part of that includes a footer link that says "designed by X" or something ... (more...)
